    Canine Parvovirus Antigen Test Kit

Immunochromatographic test for the qualitative detection of canine parvovirus antigen in canine feces.

Canine parvovirus (CPV) attacks the intestinal tract of dogs, causing severe vomiting and diarrhea. Three slightly different pathogenic strains of CPV (CPV-2a, CPV-2b and most recently CPV-2c) causing similar clinical signs have been identified. The diarrhea often has a very strong smell, and dogs show clinical signs usually within 7-10 days of the initial infection. CPV is extremely hardy, surviving extreme heat and subzero temperatures for long periods of time, and is a deadly threat to an unvaccinated dog or puppy.

In a study using 155 fecal samples, Rapide – Parvovirus Ag Test kit was compared to Hemagglutination assay (HA), a reference standard technique in laboratory diagnostics; both the sensitivity and specificity were 100%. In another field trial study taking place at multiple veterinary clinics in the United States, the sensitivity and the specificity were 100% compared to PCR.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Vaccination cannot interfere and will not give a false positive result using our test. Professor Ronald Schultz at the University of Wisconsin has performed a study in which he demonstrated that parvovirus shedding in the feces after vaccination is below the level of detection of hemagglutination assay, the gold standard laboratory method for detection of parvovirus.
Most likely, you have used too large of a fecal sample. This makes the mixture in the tube too dense to correctly flow through the test cassette. Please click the “Swab Test Amount” tab (above) to see the ideal fecal sample amount.
